You can own work that layoffs can't take, AI can't do, and your family finally understands.

Senior placement consultants help families find a senior living community when a parent can't stay home safely. You own the business, you set your own hours, and your kids can explain your work in one sentence. The community pays the fee after the move. Families pay nothing, ever, which means you’re able to provide assistance to people in trouble without having to sell them anything.

You already know the shape of what's coming.

A tool showed up last year that does part of what your team used to do by hand. A round of layoffs came through in the spring, and you kept your desk, and you were relieved for about two weeks. Now there is talk of another reorganization in the fall.

You are good at your work. Being good has never been what decides who stays.

And you are past 40, so you know what a search looks like now. Six months. A recruiter who was in middle school when you started. A number that comes in lower than the number you left.

The part that keeps you up is not the paycheck by itself. Somebody is counting on you. A kid still at home, or a kid who is not, or your own mother who is going to need something from you in the next few years and does not know how to ask. Losing the paycheck means losing the ability to be the one who handles things.

So look at a different kind of work.

Somewhere within twenty minutes of you, a family is trying to decide where their mother is going to live. Somebody has to sit with them. Somebody has to walk through the communities and know what to look for. Somebody has to be steady on the phone at nine at night when the daughter is not steady.

No company overseas can do that in your town. No software can do that anywhere. And nobody can lay you off from a business you own.

What the work actually looks like

9am. A daughter across town calls you. Her father fell last week and the hospital called this morning. She has not slept. She does not know what assisted living costs, or which communities are decent, or where a person even starts. You listen. You ask the questions that get you real answers. You find out what her father actually needs, what the family can spend, and how fast a decision has to happen. By the end of the call she trusts you, because you are the first person all week who had a plan. You tell her you will have options by tonight.

Noon. You are walking through an assisted living community two miles from her father's apartment. You introduced yourself to the director a month ago, and she gave you the full tour, because a consultant who brings families is somebody worth knowing. Today you are looking at the building through this family's eyes. Right fit, right price, somewhere you would put your own mother.

3pm. You send the daughter three options with your notes on each one. What the community offers, what the community costs, your honest read on whether her father belongs there. She calls back inside the hour with a plan in hand. She thanks you the way nobody has thanked you at work in eleven years.

Your own daughter can explain your work in one sentence. You help families figure out where Grandma should live. Nobody at your last company could say what you did all day, including the people you did it for, including you on the bad weeks.

No standup. No status update. No deck for a meeting about a meeting. Nobody moving your department under a new vice president while you are on vacation.

The community pays a referral fee after the move. The fee is usually about one month's rent, which nationally runs around $6,100 (source: CareScout 2025).

Senior placement isn't for everyone.

Families get difficult when families are scared, and good people get difficult too. Some of your calls come from people who are exhausted and frightened and arguing with each other in the background. You have to be the steady one every time, not only on the easy calls.

A referral fee lands 30 to 60 days after the move. The first few months take patience.

So here is the honest version, and it matters more for you than for most people reading a page like this one. If your last paycheck already landed and rent is due Friday, senior referrals is not the fastest money available to you. Start while you still have the paycheck. Build on evenings and weekends, get your first families, and let the layoff arrive on your schedule instead of theirs. Almost nobody does this the other way around and enjoys it.

And if you want a business that runs itself, or income you do not have to work for, I would rather tell you now than have you find out after you have bought.

I wasn't good with families either. I learned.

I'm John. I did not start out knowing how to talk to a frightened family. I had an MBA and a spreadsheet, and the first time I sat in a kitchen with a woman crying about her mother, I had no idea what to say.

I learned, and learning did not take a degree. Senior referrals takes two things. Be good with people. Be a problem solver. No medical training. Nobody is asking you to change a dressing or read a chart. You stay steady under pressure, you know what to ask, and you are the person who finally has an answer for a family that has been getting nowhere.

I ran a senior referrals business in Las Vegas for ten years. Kitchen tables, community walkthroughs, nine o'clock phone calls, hundreds of families deciding where their mother was going to live.

In ten years, nobody automated one minute of it, and nobody sent it overseas.

The Office Escape System is what I would have handed myself on day one.

You don't ever have to be a marketer.

What stops most people is not the families. What stops most people is wondering how a family in their town would ever know to call them.

The Office Escape System answers that question two ways.

First, you get the Practical Guide to Diagnoses and Decisions. The Practical Guide is a real guide for adult children trying to work out what happens to Mom now. What a diagnosis means for where she can live. Who each type of community is really for. What to ask. When a family is too early, and when a family is too late. The Practical Guide carries your name and your phone number on the cover.

Second, The Office Escape System shows you exactly what to do with the Practical Guide. Where the Practical Guide goes, who gets a copy, in what order, and what you say when you hand a copy over. You are following a process, not using a talent you were supposed to be born with.

Here is the part nobody expects. The task you resent most at work, chasing things nobody asked you to chase, keeping a list of what is still open, following up a third time when the first two went nowhere, is the exact engine that makes senior referrals work. You have been doing the hard part five days a week for years. Nobody has ever paid you for the follow-up.

You are not selling. The family already needs a decision, the community already pays a referral fee, and your part is knowing which community fits. Nobody is talked into anything.

Here's what I show you how to do

  • Walk into a family's kitchen and know what to say first
  • Ask the questions that get real answers, even when the family is arguing in front of you
  • Talk about money without flinching, even if you have always hated talking about money
  • Read a community in one visit, including the parts nobody shows you on the tour
  • Tell a good community apart from the right community for the family in front of you
  • Set up the business side without grief

Here's what you get

You get the full video course, start to finish, in the order the work actually happens.

You get every document I use. Family intake questions word for word, the community walkthrough checklist, sample community agreements, and my honest read on what each type of community is really like.

You get the Companion Guide, which walks you through the work while you do the work. The Practical Guide goes out to families with your name and number on the cover, and families keep the Practical Guide and hand copies to friends. A printed Quick Reference comes in the mail, so the steps sit in front of you when a family calls and you are new enough to want them there.

You send your questions in any time. I answer questions on video once a week, in one group video. You also hear the answers to the questions you had not thought to ask yet.

If you learn better by reading, you can add a printed Companion Guide after you buy.

There are two ways into senior placement

Buy a franchise. A franchise runs $110,000 or more to start, and the franchise takes a cut of every referral fee you collect for as long as you run the business. Franchising is legitimate if you have that kind of money sitting around and do not mind sharing every check.

Get The Office Escape System. $197. The price is low on purpose. I would rather have a few thousand people out of a cubicle and doing senior referrals well than a few hundred who could afford a bigger number. Nothing was taken out to get to $197.

Everything I know. How to find the communities you would feel good recommending and avoid the ones you would not. What to say when a family calls scared on a Tuesday night. The agreements, the invoicing, the parts that look intimidating until somebody walks you through them.

You are the boss. Your schedule, your pace, your town, your business. When your own mother needs you on a Thursday morning, you go, and nobody has to approve the time off. Nobody takes a cut of your work, and helping a frightened family has to happen person to person anyway, not through a corporate script.

Questions

Do families really pay nothing?
Nothing. The senior living community pays the referral fee after the move, the same way a staffing agency gets paid by the employer and not by the candidate.

Will AI do this too?
No. A family choosing where their mother will live is not looking for information, because information is already free and already everywhere. A family is looking for a person who has walked the buildings, who will pick up at nine at night, and who will say what she actually thinks. Software has been able to produce a list of nearby communities for years. Families still call people.

Aren't the big referral companies already doing this?
The big companies do senior placement out of call centers. A family fills out a form, and somebody a thousand miles away emails back a list. Nobody at that company has ever walked through a single community on the list. Call centers work well enough that those companies are large. Call centers do not work well enough that families stop looking for somebody who will show up in person. A person reading a script blind cannot be that somebody. You can.

Is somebody in my area already doing this?
A community pays a referral fee to whoever brings the family through the door. There is no exclusive arrangement to break into and no territory anybody owns. Your competition is not another consultant in your town, because most towns do not have one. Your competition is the daughter who did not know a person like you existed and started with a search bar at two in the morning.

Is senior placement an MLM or a franchise?
No. Senior referrals is your own business. You do not recruit anybody, you do not buy inventory, and you do not pay royalties the way a franchisee does. A community pays you a referral fee after a family you worked with moves a parent in. The whole model is one referral fee, paid once, after each move.

I've never done anything like this.
Most people who do well at senior referrals had never done anything like senior referrals. And if you have already moved your own parent, or sat through the diagnosis, or spent six weeks touring buildings with a spreadsheet, you have done a harder version of the work already. You did it alone, without training, and nobody paid you.

I'm over 40.
Being over 40 is the advantage here. A family is handing you a decision about their mother. Nobody wants somebody twenty-four years old for that conversation. Every year you have been alive is a reason for that daughter to trust you.

Do I need a license?
Some states ask for one, and licensing is more like a background check than an exam. The Office Escape System shows you how to find out what your state asks for.

Do I have to quit to start?
No, and quitting first is the wrong order. Most people build on evenings and weekends while the paycheck is still coming in.

How much time does this take each week?
Time is up to you. Most people start part time and add hours as referrals start coming in. The Office Escape System does not require a set schedule.

How fast will I get my first move?
Depends on your market and how much time you put in, and nobody can promise you a number. Demand is not the problem. Most people start slow because they do not know where to begin, which is what The Office Escape System fixes.

Does anything come in the mail?
Yes. The Quick Reference gets mailed to you, free anywhere in the US. Everything else in The Office Escape System is digital, so you have everything the same day you buy, and you can watch on your phone.

Why does checkout ask for my address?
Because the Quick Reference gets mailed to you. Shipping is free within the US, which is the only place we currently ship. Checkout will not display $0 for shipping until you enter an address. The $0 display is how checkout works, not a hidden charge.

What if The Office Escape System isn't what I expected?
You have 14 days, no questions asked.

A year from now, either somebody else still decides whether you have work, or you do.

Not a pitch. Just how time works.

The next reorganization is already on a slide somewhere. AI is not getting worse at your work. And the families in your town are going to need somebody either way.

You already know all three of those things. Nobody is going to call and tell you when to start.
